View Here : Fram Tough Guard Air Filter Vs Extra Guard
Hi, the Fram Extra Guard is a standard air filter that meets OEM specifications. The Tough Guard is a pre oiled filter media that supposedly provides better filtering. In my opinion I think you will be absolutely fine with the Extra Guard filter.
FRAM Extra Guard ® Air Filter. Most dirt in your engine enters through your air filter. That’s why our experts at FRAM ® engineering laboratories recommend changing your engine air filter every 12,000 miles. 1 After all, a new air filter can increase airflow and horsepower and improve overall engine performance. 2
Yes that is the thing. This is common for fram oil filters. Poeple were/are saying the tough guard is a better filter but it still has the same problems of the cheap orange fram. When i had my own shop 9 times out of 10 when someone complained of startup engine nosie I tyraced it back to a Fram/honeywell oil filter.
The Fram extended guard is the best bang for the buck, when you take price into account. Otherwise, you can't go wrong with Royal Purple, K & N or Mobil 1. It would be nice for the auto industry to make a standard high enough so the low end filters are pulled from the market, imo.
Company FRAM is the leader in the production of oil filters. Let’s compare, is there a difference between its products Extra Guard, Tough Guard, High Mileage and Ultra Synthetic.
I opened 2 Fram cartridge oil filter boxes of the same part number, one is Extra Guard and one is Tough Guard. They are identical with my naked eyes, from plastic end caps(top and bottom) to very thin filter media.
